BEVERLY, MA — The Ephs had one win and one loss at the Endicott Invitational today.
First, Williams (2-0) played Plymouth State University (0-2). The first set was close, but the Ephs kept a steady lead finishing the first set at 25-23. The Ephs improved in the second set to win at 25-17. In the third set Williams gained an early lead and ran away with the game to finish at 25-13, ending the match 3-0.
Tori Jasuta lead the team in kills at 10, with Emily Doll right behind at 9, while Claire Miller contributed 7. Raea Rasmussen also had 6 kills and an impressive hitting percentage of .857. Tori Jasuta also lead the defense with 15 digs, while Emily Doll contributed 10 digs. Sophomore setter, Ryan Farley, had 31 assists. Plymouth State's Kaitlyn Coon was PSU's kill leader with 6 kills.
In the second match of the day Williams faced Roger Williams University (8-0). Williams lost the match 0-3. The scores of the sets were 20-25, 18-25, and 23-25.
Tori Jasuta lead the offense with 13 kills, while Emily Doll had 7 kills. Ryan Farley not only had 24 assists but was also the dig leader with 14 digs. First Year, Tori Jasuta, was named to the All-Tournament team.
"3-1 is a solid start to our season this year," Coach Christi Kelsey said, "I am incredibly proud that every single person on our team made strong contributions over the course of our four matches. I know we are excited about getting back in the gym on Monday and continuing to make our program better."
After today's matches, the Eph's record is 3-1. Williams will travel to Vassar on Wednesday, September 11 for their next match.
