Williams Defeats Bates in First NESCAC Match of the Season

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA—Tonight the Williams College Ephs (9-1/1-0 NESCAC) went up against the Bates Bobcats (6-4/0-1 NESCAC) in thier first NESCAC match.  The Ephs came out strong and defeated Bates in just three sets, 25-8, 25-18, and 25-15.

The win extends Williams' win streak to six and their skein of consecutive sets won to 16.

Tori Jasuta and Emily Doll both had 8 kills tonight for Williams, while Raea Rasmussen was close behind with 6.  Mandy Schott lead the Eph defense with 12 digs and Ryan Farley had 30 assists.

Chandler McGrath led the Bates offense with 5 kills.

"It's nice to have our first NESCAC win at home," Coach Christ Kelsey said, "I thought we came out with great energy and played a really strong first set.  Overall we have to stay consistent against every set we play, and I think we definitely did better to get back on track at the end of set two and into set three.  Tomorrow is going to be another great test for us."  

Tomorrow Williams will play Bowdoin College at 12:00 PM and Western New England at 4:00 PM in Chandler Gym.
