WILLIAMSTOWN, MA- Today Williams (Overall 19-2; NESCAC 8-0) went up against Colby (Overall 6-10; NESCAC 2-4). Today was also the Ephs' senior game, honoring Emily Doll. "It was so fun to have a big win on senior day," senior captain, Emily Doll said, "everyone got in the game in the game an contributed!"
The Ephs started strong in the first set, with Catherin Egan and Tori Jasuta coming out with the first few kills, and another block from Jasuta. Williams dominated the first half of the set with kills from Claire Miller, and aces from Emily O'Day. Williams found themselves ahead 20-15 and quickly closed off the game with two kills from Katherine Lane and Ryan Farley. The game ended at 25-15.
In the second set, Williams continued to play strongly. Williams quickly racked up points with kills from Jasuta, Lane, Miller, and Doll. As well as blocks from Lane and an Ace from Jasuta. Williams quickly defeated Colby 25-13.
In the third set, Anna Spellman came out to crush the first kill for the Ephs, followed by a block from Doll, while Catie Benell played libero. Williams played consistently to quickly end the set 25-13.
"I thought it was an overall great team win. I am proud of our group's consistent focus and play," said coach Christi Kelsey, "It was especially nice to get a win on senior night for our captain, Emily Doll, as well."
Jasuta lead the offense with 12 kills, followed by Emily Doll with 8. Ryan Farley had 12 digs, while Mandy Schott had 11. Ryan Farley also had 30 assists.
For Colby, Natalie Roy lead the offense with 6 kills, while Sarah Arvidson had 16 digs.
Williams is ranked number one in the New England region according to the New England Women's Volleyball Association poll.
In the NCAA Division 3 rankings, Tori Jasuta went up from ranking 33 to 24 for kills per set this week (4.05), while Raea Rasmussen remains ranked 1 in the country for hitting percentage (.445). Ryan Farley is ranked 14 in the country for assist per set (10.45).
