The Ephs started strong against their first opponent at Smith College this morning, facing Trinity College, who they downed 3-0 earlier in the season as well. The first set saw the Ephs in a very slow start, with Trinity barreling ahead 15-5. Williams shook it off, however, and went on an 18-2 run to take the set, 25-20. The Ephs carried sturdy volleyball into the remaining two sets, sweeping Trinity 25-10 in the second and 25-16 in the final set.
Williams travelled nearby to Amherst College for their afternoon face-off against Wheaton College. The Lyons put up a fight in each set, but the Ephs pushed on to win in three.
The Eph's middle blockers held strong throughout the weekend, winning battles at the net and putting up a strong block. Junior setter Ryan Farley had a great weekend, dishing out assists and setting up her pin hitters for many one on one opportunities against the block. Standout hitters from the weekend were pin hitters Tori Jasuta and senior Claire Miller.
Senior attacker Raea Rasmussen was awarded all tournament team this weekend for her efforts at the net.
The Ephs continue their season next weekend at home, battling their two remaining NESCAC foes. The match against Colby College will commence in Chandler Gymnasium on Friday at 8pm.
Senior outside hitter/middle blocker Raea Rasmussen was named to the Hall of Fame Invitational All-Tournament Team.
