WILLIAMSTOWN, MA — The Williams College women's volleyball team has had a rollercoaster couple of days, but it ended well Monday as the Ephs were awarded one of 20 at-large berths into the 2015 NCAA Div. III Tournament.
Williams (18-10) will travel to Potsdam, N.Y., where Clarkson University is hosting an eight-team regional beginning Friday with four matches and concluding Sunday with a regional final. The Ephs first round opponent will be Elite 8 champion Ithaca College (30-4).
Match times and ticket prices have yet to be announced.
"We are incredibly grateful and excited to have the opportunity to participate in the NCAA tournament," Ephs' head coach Christi Kelsey said. "I am so proud of our team in the way we battled through the NESCAC tournament only to come up just short. So I had hoped that we would get another shot to continue playing this season. It will be a great adventure to travel to Clarkson along with some of our New England counterparts to square off against some other great teams that we have not had the opportunity to play this season. We couldn't be happier though and look forward to the upcoming week!"
Other teams included in the regional are Brockport State, Framingham State, Springfield, Mount St. Vincent and Colby-Sawyer.
This is the third straight NCAA Tournament appearance for Williams and the 13th overall. Last year, the Ephs won the NCAA Regional in Williamstown before losing in the national quarterfinals.
