About the Program

The Williams College volleyball team continues to be among the elite programs in New England.

The 2014 Eph team (28-5) won the Little Three title, NESCAC title, and NCAA New England Regional and advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight.

Williams went 27-5 in 2013, won the Little Three title, NESCAC title and lost to UMass Boston 3-1 in the 2014 NCAA New England Regional Final. The Ephs fashioned a perfect 10-0 mark in NESCAC, won the NESCAC Tournament with three NESCAC post-season wins. Throughout the year the Ephs only dropped four sets in 13 matches versus NESCAC teams.

Four members of the 2013 Eph team received All-American honors form the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). Freshman Tori Jasuta was named to the First Team, while senior Emily Doll, sophomore Ryan Farley and junior Raea Rasmussen recevied Honorable Mention recogntiion.

In 2012, the Ephs finished 15-12 with a NESCAC semifinals loss to Connecticut College to end the season.

The 2011 season saw the Ephs losing to Tufts in the NESCAC Quaterfinals which capped off a 16-13 finish.

In 2010, Williams went 17-13, advancing to the semifinals of the conference tournament.

In 2009, under new head coach Kelsey, the Ephs had an impressive 23-9 record, winning the NESCAC title over Tufts and advancing to the finals of the NCAA Tournament New England Regionals before losing a rematch with the Jumbos.

In Fran Vandermeer's last season as the Ephs coach, the 2008 Ephs won 12 of their last 13 matches to capture the NESCAC and NCAA New England Region titles and advanced to the NCAA Elite 8. Vandermeer compiled a record of 254-73 (.777) in her nine years at Williams (2000-08) before retiring in the spring of 2009.

The Ephs have won a conference best 11 NESCAC titles (including four straight from 2001-2004) and have appeared in 14 championship matches since 1994.

Williams advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight in 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2008. The Ephs completed the 2004 season ranked 18th in the AVCA National Coaches Top 25 Poll.

Williams has also won 14 Little III Championships, including six of the past 12 titles.  The program has a history of success with many players earning individual accolades along the way.

Who Plays?

In season, our players make volleyball their highest priority along with academics, but there is time throughout the year to participate in other activities.  Practices and games are scheduled to avoid conflicts with academic commitments.  Our athletes have performed in music and dance groups, served as Junior Advisors and House Coordinators, participated in theater, student government, been teaching assistants, studied abroad, played club and varsity sports and received some of the highest honors given by the College.
