Women's XC Competes at USATF New Englands

BOSTON, MA—On a beautiful day, the Ephs took to a historic course to compete at the USATF New England Cross Country Championships.   Seven athletes took to the course to race hard against club runners from all over New England and enjoy a scenic fall day.

The first Eph to cross the line was first-year Abby Scott. Scott capped off an excellent first season, running 23:51.  First-year Sarah Jane O'Connor was next, earning a PR in the 6k with a time of 24:38.

The next three harriers to cross the line worked together throughout the race, in classic Williams form, to propel each other to excellent times. First-year Emma Tapscott finished in 25:07, followed by sophomore Wyndom Chace in 25:13 and first-year Lauren Fossel in 25:21.

Finally, junior Julia Gunther and first-year Avivah Malin worked together through much of the race, finishing in 27:25 and 27:41 respectively.

Although the group was small, spirits were high as the runners cashed in on months of training and enjoyed their last race of the season together at the historic Franklin Park.

Williams Women's XC will return to competition next Saturday at the New England Regional meet, as they try to earn a place at Nationals.
