Anik Cepeda is entering her ninth year as the Head Women’s Tennis Coach at Williams College in 2025-26.
Hired in August 2017, Cepeda has led her team to one NESCAC Championship, one NCAA Final Four appearance and two NCAA Sweet 16 finishes. This is Cepeda’s second tour at Williams having also joined the Ephs as an assistant during the 2013-14 season.
Since Cepeda’s first year at the helm, 10 Ephs have earned All-American honors: Katherine Orgielewicz, Erica Ekstrand, Jane Ladaga, Yuu Ishikawa, Annabelle Siegel, Zoe Bennett, Jenny Tian, Leah Bush, Juli Raventos and Julia Cancio. In 2018, her top doubles tandem of Cancio and Raventos won the NCAA Doubles Championship. In 2021, Ekstrand became the first Williams women’s tennis player to capture the NCAA Singles Championships. Then in 2022, Ekstrand paired up with first year Ishikawa and made a run to the NCAA Doubles Championship, coming in second place.
During the 2023 season, Orgielewicz qualified for the NCAA Individual Championships in singles and doubles action, while Ishikawa joined her in doubles competition. Ekstrand reached the semifinals of the NCAA Individual Singles Championship in 2024, winning her first three matches. Ekstrand and Ishikawa emerged victorious in the Round of 16 for doubles, and then fell in the quarterfinal round. The complete team qualified for the 2024 NCAA Championship, falling in a back-and-forth match, 5-4, to then-No. 7-ranked Johns Hopkins in the second round.
During the 2024-25 season, Ishikawa was named a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Second Team Academic All-American, while Ishikawa and Ladaga garnered Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American honors and NESCAC All-Conference First Team in doubles action.
Prior to coaching at Williams, Cepeda spent one year assistant coaching the women’s program at Marshall University, working under head coach John Mercer, the winningest coach in M.U. history. Cepeda’s college coaching career began at Williams in 2013, when she worked as an assistant for legends Alison Swain and Dan Greenberg.
During her time as an assistant for the Ephs, the women’s program captured the NESCAC Championship, finished third at the NCAA Championships and had four All-Americans. In total, she has coached 13 Ephs to All-American honors.
Cepeda has 17 years of tennis coaching experience, including 10 at the collegiate level. She played four years for the College of William & Mary. At W&M, she helped her team win two CAA Championships, competed in both the NCAA doubles and ITA All-American Championships and has the third-most doubles wins of any first year in school history. Cepeda received a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from William & Mary and has a master’s in leadership from Northeastern University.
