In just six seasons as the head basketball coach at WilliamsCollege, Mike Maker has led the Ephs to three Final Fours (2010,2011 & 2014), an Elite Eight (2013), and an overall record of147-32, giving him the highest basketball winning percentage (.821)in school history. 

This past season, the Ephs finished 28-5, reached the NationalChampionship game, and returned to Salem for an unprecedentedfourth time in five years. The 2013-14 team ranked in the top 10 inthe country in seven statistical categories, including third infree throws made (590), fifth in three-point field goals made(303), and seventh in offensive field goal percentage (50.8%). TheEphs' convincing national semifnial victory or archrival Amherstnot only protected their perfect 5-0 all-time record versus theLord Jeffs in NCAA Tournament play, but also gave Maker a schoolrecord 16 NCAA Tournament victories.

The 2013 Ephs finished 26-5 and reached the Elite Eight,culminating in Maker being named D3hoops.com Northeast Region Coachof the Year and a Glenn Robinson Division III Coach of the YearFinalist. Statistically, the Ephs ranked in the top 10 nationallyin four categories, including fourth in offensive field goalpercentage (50.8%).

The 2011 Purple Cows finished 29-3 and made a return trip toSalem and the Final Four, giving the Ephs an eye-opening 59-5record over a two-year period, and making Maker a Glenn RobinsonDivision III Coach of the Year Finalist.  Along the way, theEphs ranked in the top five nationally in five statisticalcategories, including a #2 ranking in defensive field goalpercentage (37.3%).

Maker's 2010 Ephs went 30-2, reached the NCAA Championship game,set a school record for consecutive wins (21), tied a school recordfor most regular season wins (23), and led the nation in fourstatistical categories: winning percentage (93.8%), offensive fieldgoal percentage (52.6%), three point field goal percentage (46.1%),and scoring margin (19.6). As a result, Maker was named BasketballTimes Co-National Coach of the Year, D3hoops.com Northeast RegionCoach of the Year, and NESCAC Coach of the Year.

Prior to joining the Williams basketball family, Maker assistedcurrent Oregon head coach Dana Altman at Creighton for one season,where the Bluejays advanced to the second round of the NIT. Makeralso assisted current Michigan head coach John Beilein for twoseasons at West Virginia.  During that time, the Mountaineerswon the 2007 NIT Championship and advanced to the 2006 NCAA SweetSixteen.

Maker has 26 years of collegiate coaching experience (17 at theDivision 1 level). He is a member of the North Salinas High SchoolHall of Fame and was a two-year captain and honorable mention AllCoast Conference selection at Hartnell College.  While atCalifornia Baptist College, he earned Academic All America honorsand was a two year captain. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1988with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education. Makercompleted his Master of Arts degree in Education from Azusa PacificUniversity in 1990.
