Trevor Wenners begins his first year as Assistant Director of Athletic Communications at Williams College during the 2025-26 season.
Previously, Wenners was the Manager of Athletic Statistics and Record Keeping at Williams from 2022-25. He was the first person to ever hold this role for the Ephs and was appointed to the position on Sept. 6, 2022.
“Trevor brings with him a varied background and skill set that matches well the needs of the department," said Williams College Athletic Director Lisa Melendy at the time of Wenners' hire. "He has recorded and maintained statistics for numerous sports, created social media content, trained and managed students, supervised live streaming of events, done sports photography and more. I look forward to him continuing this work at Williams.
The search committee was impressed with Trevor's attention to detail, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and his passion for Division III athletics. His history of building strong relationships with coaches, student-athletes and community members was also notable. I would like to thank the search committee, Jill Campbell (Chair), Tom Foote, Meghan Gillis, Gillian McDonald, Mark McDonough and Dick Quinn for their time and good work.”
Wenners is responsible for all statistics at Williams, to go along with creating digital game-day programs, managing rosters, updating schedules, nominating conference, regional and national awards, coordinating live-streaming and updating general information on the SideArm-run Ephs' sports website. He also maintains the internal Word-Press operated Athletic department's website, writes internal newsletters, keeps track of and updates records and archival information and trains and supervises students and per-diem employees helping with game-day statistical compilation and game programs.
Wenners oversees the athletic department's sports information budget and supervises one part-time assistant coach helping in sports information each year. Wenners is the Contact Point for the NCAA, NESCAC and SID offices, administration, coaches and media for sports information inquiries. Since his arrival at Williams in the fall of 2022, he has worked at home NESCAC playoff events in basketball, squash, soccer, field hockey, volleyball, lacrosse, tennis and golf, while serving as the point-person for sports information at NCAA Division III Tournament events in men's tennis and field hockey.
Prior to Williams, Wenners served as the Director of Athletic Communications, Home Contest Manager and Scheduling Coordinator at Lasell University in Newton, Massachusetts. He has previously experience working in the NESCAC from a sports information standpoint at Wesleyan and Tufts, while also serving for two-and-a-half years as Assistant Sports Information Director at LaGrange College in Georgia.
From 2012-19, Wenners was also a sports reporter at various newspapers and online publications in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Connecticut. He covered high school, college and professional sports for these outlets, while also helping on the sports desk and putting together the sports sections of the newspapers.
Wenners graduated from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, in 2016, with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a Minor in Psychology. He graduated with magna cum laude honors.
Wenners' Quote at Time of Hire:
"I am beyond excited and grateful for the opportunity to work at Williams College and enhance the student-athlete experience from a sports information standpoint. There are great things on the horizon at Williams, and I cannot wait to play my part in elevating the institution to new heights.
I would like to thank the entire search committee and the Williams College community for giving me the opportunity to pursue my passions in this position. Throughout the whole process, the tight-knit and family-oriented atmosphere present at the college has made this an easy decision for me.
I have previous experience in the NESCAC and cannot wait to return to working with that caliber of student-athletes and coaches. The conference is one-of-a-kind and I have always been eager to return to that environment where academic and athletic success is always plentiful. My passion for maintaining statistics and record keeping was also a huge determining factor in me electing to make this move in my career.
