BRUNSWICK, ME- Women's soccer has not been in many tight games
this season, but Bowdoin (4-1-0, 2-1-0) certainly pushed Williams
(6-0-0, 3-0-0) to their limit this afternoon.
Williams handled the high pressure match up well, keeping
Bowdoin scoreless in the first half for the first time this season
and remaining undefeated in conference and overall play.
Williams has been explosive offensively in the
first half this season, scoring eleven of their eighteen goals this
season in the early going. The Polar Bears kept Williams engaged in
an evenly matched first forty-five minutes of play though, and kept
the Ephs' offensive attack at bay.
The Ephs scored the only goal of
the game five minutes into the second period. Brianna Wolfson
took the ball down the right side of the field field and blasted a
perfectly placed line drive into the opposite corner to score the
game-winning goal. Wolfson leads the team in points thus far
in the season with 4 goals and 5 assists.
Lauren Sinnenberg had busy outing at net,
tallying 11 saves. Kat Popoff had 7 saves for
the Polar Bears.
Williams continues their weekend of play versus non conference
opponent Endicott tomororw at 12:00 p.m.
