BEVERLY, MA — Williams College
(7-0-0) junior Gabrielle Woodson scored in the 23rd minute of the
first half Sunday to propel the visiting Ephs to a 1-0 win over
Endicott (4-3-0). Williams, playing its second game in as many
days, remains undefeated this season.
Williams' Ana Sani laced a pass in between two Endicott
defenders to teammate Woodson, who proceeded to score the games
only goal into the lower right hand corner of the net.? The Ephs
had more opportunities to score in the first half, but Gulls'
goalkeeper Amy Meuse made some key saves in the opening period to
keep the game close.
Despite not scoring in the second half, Williams controlled the
tempo of the remaining forty-five minutes of play and continue to
put pressure on Endicott's defense and goalkeeper.? Williams
outshot the Gulls 15-5, and 9-1 in the second half alone.? Their
best opportunity to take a 2-0 lead occurred when the Ephs' Sara
Wild narrowly missed the net in the 67th minute when her ball
clipped the crossbar.
Ephs goalkeeper Lauren Sinnenberg had two saves in her seventh
victory and sixth shutout of the season.? Gull's goalkeepr Meuse
had eight saves in the loss.
Williams will return to conference play on Saturday at Trinity
at 12:00 noon.
