WATERVILLE, Maine - Eph goalkeeper Andrew Graham put in another
solid performance, however the Eph offense couldn't match and the
Williams College men's soccer team settled for a 0-0 draw against
Colby Sunday.
The Ephs (7-3-1, 4-2-1) have now gone winless in their last
three games, recording one loss and a pair of ties over that span.
The Ephs have recorded just two wins in their last six contests,
after starting with five wins and just one loss through their first
six games, while Colby moves to 5-5-1.
Graham posted six saves and recorded his fourth shutout of the
season in the decision.
"It was another one of those games," remarked Eph coach Mike
Russo. "It was a vary back-and-forth game, and we still looked flat
at times. I thought our defense played well especially Joe Vella,
Jay Ingram, and Brian Dolezal, but we just needed something more.
It was just a rough weekend for us."
While each team created goal-scoring opportunities throughout
the game, neither was able to capitalize. The parity of the two
teams reflected in the stat line where the two teams mirrored each
other in shots (Williams: 11, Colby: 8), saves (Williams: 6, Colby:
7 ), corner kicks (Williams: 8, Colby: 7 ), and fouls (Williams:
17, Colby: 16 ).
The Ephs are going to try to curb the recent downward trend when
they face-off against archrival Amherst, a team which defeated the
Mules 5-2 a little over a week ago, next Saturday at Amherst. The
game is scheduled for 2:00 PM.
