CLINTON, NY - The Williams College volleyball
team (6-6, 1-1) rebounded in the second day of the NESCAC weekend,
taking down Trinity College 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-11) and Wesleyan
3-1 (25-22, 20-25, 25-20, 25-20).
After a slow start in the first game, the Ephs
gained enough momentum to handily defeat the Bantams. Sophomore setter Emily Avis lead
the Ephs with 31 assists and 2 blocks, while juniors Chelsea Kubal
(12 kills, 11 digs) and Whitney Hitchcock (6 kills, 3 aces),
sophomores Kate Anderson (9 kills) and Nicole Ballon-Landa (8
kills, 6 blocks), and freshman Aly McKinnon (12 digs) made
significant contributions.
Against Wesleyan the Ephs remained strong
defensively and defeated the Cardinals in four games. Rounding out
the numbers were Avis (31 assists, 2 aces, 4 blocks), Anderson (8
kills, 4 blocks), Kubal (18 digs, 8 kills), Hitchcock (7 kills, 4
blocks), McKinnon (8 digs), Ballon-Landa (11 kills, 9 blocks),
junior Andrea Scioscia (11 digs), and sophomore Eleanor Levine (5
kills, 4 aces).
The Ephs hope to continue this streak next
weekend at the MIT Invitational.
