MIDDLETOWN, CT- The Williams College volleyball team (0-1)
dropped their season opener to Wesleyan on Friday night, 2-3
(23-25, 25-21, 25-23, 22-25, 12-15). The loss marked the first time
in seven years that the Cardinals were able to defeat the Ephs.
The Ephs looked poised to pull off their 13th consecutive win
against the Cardinals, when they overcame a 1-0 disadvantage to win
both sets two and three. Wesleyan, however, charged back to take
the final two sets and the match.
Despite the loss, the Ephs were led offensively by sophomores
Eleanor Levine (12 kills), Kate Anderson (10 kills), and Nicole
Ballon-Landa (10 kills), and junior Melissa Pun (17 assists). The
defense was led by juniors Chelsea Kubal (20 digs) and Andrea
Scioscia (12 digs).
The Ephs remain at Wesleyan Saturday to play Coast Guard (11 AM)
and Wellesley (2 PM).
