MIDDLETOWN, CT- The Williams College volleyball team
(1-2) went 1-1 in Day 2 of the NESCAC/NEWMAC challenge hosted by
Wesleyan. The Ephs clinched their first victory of the season
against Coast Guard 3-0 (25-15, 25-16, 25-28) in the morning but
were defeated 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-22) by Wellesley in the second
match.
"Today we went out with some modified lineups as some of
our players get healthy," said head coach Fran Vandermeer.
"However, we have to take care of the ball no matter who is setting
for us."
In the morning match against Coast Guard, the setting was
done primarily by juniors Alisha Cahlan (11 assists, 4 kills) and
Whitney Hitchcock (9 assists). Other notable stats for the
Ephs were posted by junior Andrea Scioscia (9 digs), and sophomores
Eleanor Levine (12 digs, 4 blocks) and Nicole Ballon-Landa (8
kills, 3 blocks).
Against Wellesley, the Ephs were led by junior Chelsea
Kubal (12 digs), Scioscia (12 digs), and Ballon-Landa (9 kills, 3
blocks).
The Ephs now look to move forward Tuesday, September 9
with their home and conference opener against Hamilton at
7PM.
