Cortland State dropped Lasell 84-73 in the
opening game of the Williams Invitational.
Cortland led 35-29 behind 10 first half points
from center Paul Oliver. The Red Dragons were in front the entire
half and led by as many as ten.
Lasell made a push in the second half, taking
the lead at about the 10 minute mark before Cortland was able to
pull away behind 16 second half points from freshman point guard
Jesse Winter.
Sophomore forward Javon Williams did the bulk
of the scoring for Lasell, tallying 27 points while going 10-18
from the field. Willaims also led the Lasers in rebounds with five.
Oliver ended the game with 18 points and 11 rebounds for Cortland,
while Winter had 17 points and five assists.
Cortland State will face Williams tomorrow at 4 p.m. in
the championship game of the Williams Invitational. Lasell will
take on SVC at 2 p.m.
