CAMBRIDGE, MA – The Williams College volleyball team (7-3)
won two straight matches in the first day of the MIT Invitational.
The Ephs took down Endicott (3-0) and NYU (3-2) in day one of
competition.
The Ephs swept Endicott 25-16, 25-19, 25-8 and then edged NYU,
25-18, 25-23, 16-25, 15-25, 15-9.
Head Coach Christi Kelsey said that “Our match against
Endicott was a solid win for us against a good team. We executed
our game plan from start to finish. As for NYU, it was a battle for
all five games against a strong team. We kept them out of system
and played well the first two sets, but they are a team that just
keeps coming back and they played really well.”
Their success on day one has placed the Ephs in the Championship
bracket going into day two. All four teams remaining in the
Championship bracket are NESCAC teams. Williams will play Wesleyan
at noon, while Tufts and Conn. College will tangle for the right to
play for the tourney title later in the day.
