CAMBRIDGE, MA - After a very strong
performance this weekend, the Williams College volleyball team
(8-4) finished second overall at the MIT Invitational Tournament.
The Ephs began day two of the invite with a
3-0 win against Wesleyan (26-24, 25-17, 25-16). They played well
throughout the match, keeping the Cardinals' offense at bay.
“The Wesleyan match was a great overall
match for us in executing fundamentals. Wesleyan is a good team and
we came out with energy from the first point and played well. It
was awesome for us to make it to the finals of this
tournament.”
The win against Wesleyan was the third
straight for the Ephs in this weekend's tournament, and it
placed them against Tufts for the championship match. After three
tough games, the Ephs lost to the Jumbos 3-0 (26-24, 25-21, 25-20).
“Tufts is a great team and we were not
able to execute as well as we are capable of doing. We have to
continue to improve each week and this match will help us learn
where we can continue to get better. I'm very proud of our
team though for a strong overall performance this weekend.”
Senior Melissa Pun and Junior Nicole
Ballon-Landa both earned All-Tournament team honors.
Next up for the Ephs is a home game against
Union. The game begins at 7pm and will be webcast here.
