HADLEY, MA -- For the second time this season Williams senior
guard/forward Blake Schultz (Atherton, CA) has been named the
NESCAC men's basketball Player of the Week.
Schultz, a captain, for the fifth-ranked Ephs (14-1) had an
impressive start in conference play this past weekend, averaging
25.0 points on 20-of-30 shooting (.667) along with 4.5 steals, 3.0
rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game in victories over Tufts and
Bates.
During Friday's 91-55 victory over the Jumbos, Schultz
went 11-for-16 from the floor for a game-high 26 points. He added
24 points on Saturday against the Bobcats, another game-high, along
with five rebounds and five steals. Schultz was also 7-for-13 from
three-point range (.538) for the week.
Schultz leads NESCAC in scoring with 297 points (19.8) and he
ranks third in the conference in free throw percentage (68-79,
.861), fourth in steals 27 (1.8/game) and fifth in three-point
percentage (35-71, .493).
Schultz is a key figure on NESCAC's top offensive team
(90.1 ppg), field goal % (.525), and free throw % (.751).
Additionally the Ephs are second in rebound margin (9.4).
Williams will be in action tonight (1/19) when they travel to
New Paltz, NY to play SUNY New Paltz in the first of five straight
road games. Seven of the Ephs' final nine regular season
contests will be on the road.
