Williamstown, MA -- In the last dual meet of the
season, the Eph women punctuated their stellar season by downing
the Middlebury Panthers 206-85. The Williams women finished the
dual meet portion of their season undefeated versus Division III
teams (7-0) and 1-1 versus Division I teams for an overall record
of 8-1.
The Ephs came out strong, setting the tone with a 1-2-3 sweep of
the 200 Medley Relay, 1,650 Free and 200 Free. Head coach
Steve Kuster was pleased with how the women ended their season:
“It's always nice to close out the dual meet season
undefeated against Division III teams and the women were dominant
throughout.” Kuster added that the strength of the Ephs was
that they were, “versatile, flexible and strong in every meet
with a lot of different contributors in a lot of events.”
One of
Saturday's biggest contributors was sophomore diver Hannah
Wilson. Wilson posted NCAA qualifying scores in both 1-meter and
3-meter diving en route to winning both events. Eph diving coach
Kit Callahan Koch was very proud of her emerging sophomore:
“Hannah is working hard and figuring it out as she goes, with
this being just her second year of diving. She just may be
the one to beat at NESCACs on both boards.”
On Senior Day, Lisa
Cucolo '10 won the 200 Breaststroke with a NCAA B-Cut time of
2:25.67 and had what coach Kuster called “the best swim of
the meet.” Sophomore Logan Todhunter won the 200 and 100 Fly
and posted a NCAA A-Cut time of 2:03.74 in the 200 Fly. Other
noteworthy swims included Senior Sophia Sequeira's victory in
the 200 Free (1:56.88) and Gigi Campo's first sub one-minute
swim in the 100 Free (59.33).
The lone highlight
for the Panthers came in the meet's final event when they
took top honors in 200 Free relay winning in 1:40.99.
Next weekend the Ephs will
participate in the two-day Middlebury Invitational of Feb. 5 &
6.
