Hoboken, NJ----The
Ephs started off tournament play with a tough loss to a strong
Stevens Tech volleyball squad (25-19, 25-16, 25-22). Freshman Emily Doll led
the team with her outstanding 10 kills in the evening, closely
followed by a valiant 7 digs by senior Kate Anderson.
Senior Emily
Avis stepped in with 21 assists along with 6 digs. Junior Aly McKinnon
and sophomore Mika Nakashige
brought home 5 digs each.
The Ephs then moved on to their next
match against Montclair St. avenging their prior loss with a 3-0
victory (25-13, 25-12, 25-20). Coach Christi Kelsey was pleased
with her team's performance and was noted, "against Stevens we
didn't play to what we were capable of, but with Monclair, we
bounced back".
The Ephs were clearly fired up in the second match, as
demonstrated by freshman Emily Baratta's
team-leading 10 kills; along with senior Nicole
Ballon-Landa's 9 kills and freshman Emily Doll's 8 kills. Aly
McKinnon struck gold with her team-leading 11 digs -- closely
followed by Emily Barrata's 7 digs. Emily Avis had 40 assists.
The Ephs will next be facing off versus Clarkson at 11 am
Saturday, followed by Baruch at 1 pm tomorrow.
