Ephs win 1-0 at Springfield College

SPRINGFIELD, MA—The third ranked Williams College men's soccer team defeated non-conference opponent Springfield College 1-0 Wednesday evening to their undefeated season to 8-0-2.

The Ephs scored a goal late in the 45th minute when Gaston Kelly crossed a free kick into the box, which connected with Joe Vella, who headed the ball into the back of the net. This proved to be the game-winner as the Ephs held onto their 1-0 lead in the second half to preserve the win over the Pride (9-4-1).

Overall the Ephs held an 11 to 3 edge in total shots. Springfield keeper Chris Walton, who played 90 minutes for the Pride, saved 3 of these shots. Williams College keeper Peter Morrell had 1 save in 90 minutes of play for the Ephs.

The Ephs will return to action October 16th in a NESCAC battle against the number 22nd ranked team Bowdoin College.
