Williamstown, MA---The Ephs celebrated Senior
Night with a key NESCAC win over their rivals Colby 3-0 (25-17,
25-13, 25-17). The Ephs were led by a powerful offensive effort
from freshman Emily Baratta who
went 7-7 on kills and scored the first 6 points of the opening set.
She also ended the final set, serving from point 14 until point 24.
In addition to these spectacular showings, she led the team with 14
kills. Senior Nicole Ballon-Landa had a powerful performance
tonight with her 10 kills. Senior Emily Avis was key
to tonight's offense with her 38 assists -- fueled of course by
junior Aly
McKinnon's 14 digs and sophomore Lauren Agoubi's
13 digs.
Coach Christi Kelsey was pleased with the Ephs' performance,
noting that it was "not only a nice consistent win for senior night
but also a good conference win to come in amid other things going
on". The Ephs have been super busy this week, and have definitely
used their momentum from Tuesday's win against New Paltz. Coach
Joel Williams got a little emotional after the game talking about
the seniors, "This is my first full class as a college coach and
I'm pleased to see how far they've come".
The Ephs will be playing again tomorrow at home against Bates
(at 1:30 pm) and Hamilton (4:00 pm). Both matches will be
webcasted.
