Williamstown, Ma -- The Ephs challenged Trinity and F & M yesterday on their home turf. Lots of supporters came to cheer on the Ephs during these two important matches, creating a very exciting atmosphere. Knowing the day's matches would be tough, especially against Trinity, the women stepped up and played extremely well.
Taking on Trinity first at 4 pm, the women put up a fight, pulling out three wins (by Hollis Miller, Gibbs Cullen, and Mia Fry). Alyssa Northrop and Eliana Saltzman also managed to win impressive games against her opponents.
After a very exhausting first round of matches, the women prepared themselves to take on Franklin and Marshall at 7pm. Knowing this team would not be as challenging as Trinity, the Ephs still showed tremendous effort, pulling out an 8-1 victory.
Coach Zafi Levy gave his opinion on the day's matches, stating, "I thought the women played extremely well tonight. The match vs Trinity could have been closer, as we rested our #3 Ali Rubin and missing Carolyn Kaemmer who spends the semester in Italy. Against F&M we dominated from the top to bottom. Courtney is getting better fast. All other players played to their potential and won convincingly. I am really pleased and look forward to a similar effort against Princeton on Sunday."
Overall, the women performed very well for their first home match, and look forward to taking on Princeton, Sunday at 12pm.
