Waltham, MA---The
Ephs closed off the weekend 2-2, going 1-1 today against Dominican
and Bates. Dominican beat the Ephs 3-0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-16), but
Williams came out strong against Bates coming away with a 3-0
victory (27-25, 25-15, 25-19). Junior Aly Mckinnon had a phenomenal
showing this weekend, making the all-tournament team.
The Ephs had a tough start to the afternoon against Dominican,
however they would press on. Senior Kate Anderson
posted 7 kills and 1 block while Senior Nicole
Ballon-Landa had a respectable 4 kills and 2 blocks. Kate
Anderson, Senior Emily Avis, and
Junior Aly Mckinnon came out with 8, 7, and 7 digs respectively.
Emily Avis had 14 assists on the game, and Sophomore Haley Eagon chipped
in with 2 assists. Freshmen Emily Doll put up 3
service aces with Emily Avis had 1.
In the game against Bates, the Ephs were ready to come back.
Seniors Kate Anderson and Nicole Ballon-Landa, as well as Freshmen
Emily Barrata each had 2 blocks respectfully. Senior Kate Anderson
led the team with 15 digs and 23 kills, closely followed by Aly
Mckinnon with 14 digs, and Sophomore Mike Nakashige with 10 digs.
Nicole Ballan-Landa added 8 kills, while freshmen Emily Barrata and
Emily Doll posted 5 kills respectively. Senior Emily Avis had 42
assists throughout the match. Aly Mckinnon and Emily Barrata both
had 2 service aces each, contributing to a strong Williams
offense.
The Ephs will face Vassar on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in
their first home match.
