Philadelphia/ Annapolis -- The Williams women's squash team traveled to Philadelphia and Annapolis this weekend to take on UPenn, Navy, and George Washington. Playing fifth ranked UPenn on Saturday, the women were greatly challenged, losing 8-1. Sophomore Mia Fry and Junior Carolyn Kaemmer (#10) were the sole winners for the Ephs. Courtney Bogle also had a very close match. Leaving their sweat on the courts, the Ephs were ready to take on the Navy and George Washington teams today at 10:00 and 1:00.
The women took on Navy's Men's JV team with great success, defeating them 8-1. All of the women had tough matches, including many five gamers by Laura Henry, Alli Rubin, Alyssa Northrop, Kavitha Mannava, and Mia Fry. After the tough Navy match, the women had to get mentally prepared for their match against GW. Physically tired from the long weekend, the women played hard, defeating the GW Colonels 7-2. Although she did not win her match, Junior Courtney Bogle played a thrilling five-gamer.
Overall, the Ephs leave Annapolis exhausted but extremely pleased with their results. Coach Zafi Levy stated, "It was a very tough weekend for the team. I thought we played really well against Navy and GW. The girls played hard against UPenn, and we're looking forward to a good week of training for our match this weekend against Dartmouth." The women look forward to their big match against Dartmouth at Dartmouth, Saturday at 2:00.
