PROVIDENCE – The Ephs traveled to Providence yesterday to take on the number eleven ranked Brown Bears. After having lost two close matches against them last year, the Ephs were determined to achieve a well-deserved win. However, the women were unable to portray their tremendous fitness, falling just short to their long-time rival.
Playing a five-court system, Ellie O'Neill, Courtney Bogle, Caroline Sawin, Hannah Kaemmer, and Mia Fry commenced the matches. Having lost to her opponent at last years nationals, Courtney Bogle played impressive squash, pulling out a tough four game win. Caroline Sawin also demonstrated great control on court, achieving another four game victory. However, Ellie O'Neill, Hannah Kaemmer, and Mia Fry all fell short to their opponents in tough matches.
Alli Rubin, Laura Henry, Alyssa Northrop, Carolyn Kaemmer, and Eliana Saltzman made up the second round of matches. Alli Rubin played a tremendous match, giving the Ephs their third win of the day. However, Laura Henry, Alyssa Northrop, Carolyn Kaemmer, and Eliana Saltzman were unable to overcome their opponents. Hollis Miller, at number twelve, was the only other Eph to achieve a win.
Overall, the women were disappointed in the result, and strive to perform better for the remainder of the weekend. They take on Dartmouth today and Middlebury tomorrow at the Simon Squash Center.
