Women's Squash Advance to Finals of 'B' Division

CAMBRIDGE – The women took on Middlebury today at 4 in the semi-finals of the Kurtz cup. Having lost to the Panthers 5-4 a few weeks ago at NESCACS, the Ephs knew it was going to be close, but were determined to win.

Laura Henry, Caroline Sawin, and Eliana Saltzman started the matches. Caroline won in a thrilling five games. However, Laura lost in a tough three games, while Eliana fell in a close four, putting the Ephs behind 1-2 after the first round.

Alli Rubin, Ellie O'Neill, and Carolyn Kaemmer made up the second round of matches. Carolyn and Ellie both won in a decisive three games, while Alli, although putting up a tough fight, fell in four tight games. The Ephs had evened the score to 3-3 at the end of the second round.

To finish the day of matches was Courtney Bogle, Alyssa Northrop, and Hannah Kaemmer. Having lost to her opponent at NESCACS, Courtney managed to recover, pulling out an impressive four game win. Alyssa, after winning the first two games, lost the third, but managed to come back to win in four close games. Finally, Hannah's match stole the show. Having lost the first two games, Hannah managed to fight hard towards a nail biting five game victory. Gibbs Cullen also won her match in four.

The Ephs are very excited about their win today. All of their hard work throughout the season had paid off, and they were able to prove that they truly are the better team. The women play Brown tomorrow at 10:45am in the finals of the B division.
