WILLIAMSTOWN – Women's squash sweeps Wesleyan and Amherst to take their 14th consecutive Little Three Title. The Ephs came back strong from their tough loss to Brown the previous day - not giving up a match all Saturday.
The day started against Wesleyan at 11 am. The women had little trouble with any of their opponents, with seven out of the top nine matches finishing in three games. Hannah Kaemmer (#7) and Mia Fry (#9) both had closer matches, but were each able to defeat their adversaries in four games.
A few hours later the Ephs were back on the court versus longtime rival Amherst. Williams was challenged a little more in the afternoon, but still were able to be victorious and complete the match 9-0. Lily Grant (#8) was one of the highlights of the match. After winning the first two games, her opponent was able to tie the match at 2-2. However, Grant was not fazed, and stormed back to take the final game.
Assistant coach Blair Dils was happy with the team's performance. "Winning the Little Three is always one of our season goals, so for the girls to come through today from the top of the line-up to the bottom was satisfying," commented Dils. "We should be feeling really good about the results, but we know we're going to have to be at the top of our game if we're to beat Columbia tomorrow."
The Ephs last home match of the season comes tomorrow when they face an improved Columbia team. The match kicks off at noon at the Simon Squash Center.
