Ephs Defeat Bowdoin and Connecticut College

BRUNSWICK, ME – Women's squash finished the weekend on a higher note than they started. After losing to Bates 5-4 on Saturday, the Ephs took care of business with 8-1 and 9-0 victories over Bowdoin and Connecticut College, respectively.

The day started at 10 am with the Ephs challenging Bowdoin. Positions four through nine posed no challenge for Williams and all the matches ended 3-0 in favor for the Ephs. On the top court however, the story went a little differently. Caroline Sawin (#3) lost the first game, only to come back and win the next three. Alyssa Northrop (#1) dropped the second game of her match but also was victorious 3-1. Nicole Feshbach, playing at the number two position, was the lone loss of the day for the Ephs, with her match ending in three games.

The weekend ended with Connecticut College challenging Williams at the Bowdoin courts. The Ephs managed to win the match without dropping any individual games.

"After a long and tiring match last night we were able to refocus today," said co-captain Ellie O'Neill. "We played well against Bowdoin and Conn College and are very eager to redeem ourselves next weekend against two very good teams in Middlebury and Columbia."

Williams ended their Maine trip with a 2-1 record, winning against Bowdoin and Connecticut College, but losing to Bates.

"I thought we played well all weekend long," commented coach Zafi Levi. "We just came short against Bates, but we all felt we can beat them next time around. I look forward to a week of training in preparation for our match versus Middlebury on Saturday."

The Ephs have an important weekend coming up. Middlebury is always one of their most anticipated matches and they will face them in Williamstown on Saturday the 18^th. They then will challenge an improved Columbia team in New York on Sunday the 19^th.
