Box Score WILLIAMSTOWN, MA -- St. Lawrence held off a pesky Bates team 68-59, in the second game of the Williams College Winter Classic played at Chandler Gymnasium.
The Saints improved to 3-4 on the season while Bates slipped to 6-5. Sunday, Bates will battle RPI at 1 p.m. and St. Lawrence will take on host Williams at 3 p.m. to conclude the tournament.
Allison Cady led St. Lawrence with 17 points while Kara McDuffee chipped in a double-double (
St. Lawrence came out strong in the opening stanza, shooting 44.4 percent from the floor (12 of 27) and outrebounding Bates, 20-14. The Saints had eight different players score in the half, led by seven points from Allison Cady and six each from Kara McDuffee and Lauren Quattrocchi. Kelly Legg added four points and seven rebounds.
Meredith Kelly kept Bates in the game, scoring 13 of the Bobcats 25 points.
A late 8-1 run helped St. Lawrence expand its lead to 10 points before going into the locker room at half up 33-25. Olivia Mathieu had five points while Quattrocchi drained a key three-pointers during the run.
