Women's Squash Sweeps Bowdoin and Colby 9-0

BRUNSWICK, MAINE – The Ephs continued their winning streak this weekend with 9-0 sweeps against fellow NESCAC teams Colby and Bowdoin. Only a few games were dropped in the Ephs' journey to an undefeated weekend.

The Ephs first faced the Colby Mules in Waterville, Maine. Despite a tiring match against Bates yesterday, the Ephs were relentless on court, refusing to drop a single game in the first round of matches. Despite losing the second game to her opponent 11-6, Caroline Hogan (#8) came back and fought hard to win in four games, making the match a 9-0 sweep.

After defeating Colby, the Ephs headed to Brunswick to face Bowdoin in their last match of the weekend. The Bowdoin team had beaten Bates 5-4 earlier in the season, so the Ephs went in knowing that the match would not be easy. Playing the three-court system, co-captain Nicole Feshbach (#3), Ellen Coombe (#6), and Alyssa Ritchie (#9) dominated the match from the beginning, each winning their match in three games. Caroline Hogan (#8), Ananya Mahalingam-Dhingra (#5), and Hayley Parsons (#2) followed a similar pattern, ensuring a win for the Ephs. Esther Baek (#4) and Nicole Friedman (#1) had tougher battles, with each of their matches going to four and five games, respectively. However, they came back to fight and eventually win, resulting in a 9-0 win for the Ephs.

Assistant coach Blair Dils commented, "We had a goal of sweeping our matches today and we accomplished that goal. It was a very satisfying weekend in Maine for us, and we cannot wait for next weekend to play important matches on our home courts."

Co-captain Feshbach agreed with him, stating, "Everybody played extremely well today. We've had tough matches, so getting 9-0 wins against two teams that have improved a lot (Colby and Bowdoin) really speaks to the work we have put in this season. Hopefully we can use this momentum going into next weekend. F&M and GW are two of our most important matches of the season, so we are looking forward to competing back at home!"

The Ephs will face George Washington 11am on Saturday, January 16th, followed by Franklin and Marshall on Sunday, January 17th at 2pm.
