Women's Squash Falls to Dartmouth in Semifinals of Kurtz Cup

NEW HAVEN, CT – The Ephs fell to Darthmouth today 7-2 in the semifinals of the Kurtz Cup. The Ephs previously fell to Dartmouth 5-4 in the regular season, and despite fighting hard today against them and showing a lot of spirit, they did not manage to pull of a win.

The match followed the three-court system, with Caroline Hogan (#9), Ellen Coombe (#6), and co-captain Nicole Feshbach (#3). Coombe played hard, but eventually fell to her opponent in three games. Hogan and Feshbach both took their opponents to five games, but fell in the fifth, making the score 3-0 to Dartmouth.

Next on court were Charlotte Walsh (#8), Esther Baek (#5), and Hayley Parsons (#2). Baek had extremely close games with her opponent, taking her to tiebreakers twice, but eventually fell in three games. Walsh and Parsons both played excellent squash to dominate their opponents in three games, making the score 4-2 to Dartmouth.

Last on court were co-captain Lily Grant (#7), Ananya Mahalingam-Dhingra (#4), and Nicole Friedman (#1). Grant followed the example of her teammates and fought hard against a difficult opponent, but eventually fell in a five-game match. Mahalingam-Dhingra and Friedman both took a game of their Dartmouth opponents, but eventually fell in four games, making the overall score 7-2 to Dartmouth.

Head coach Levy had this to say about the win, "Although I am disappointed with the lose, I have to commend the team for the effort tonight. If you look at the score you see we had so many close matches that could have gone either way. We have a big match against Brown tomorrow and we want to end this amazing season on a high note."

Co-captain Grant echoed his statements, "Despite a hard loss to Dartmouth, everyone fought hard and we are happy with the performances by everyone on the team.  We look forward to having another chance to play brown tomorrow, who we lost to by a close margin earlier in the season, and hopefully end this season on a high point!"

The Ephs face Brown tomorrow in the 3/4 playoff at 2pm.
