Women's Squash Falls to Trinity in Finals of the NESCAC Tournament

HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT – The Ephs fell to Trinity today in the finals of the NESCAC tournament. Despite that the Trinity Bantams are currently ranked fifth in the country, the Ephs fought hard and played excellent squash in their last day of the championship.

The match followed the five-court system, with Alyssa Ritchie (#10), co-captain Lily Grant (#8), Ellen Coombe (#6), Ananya Mahalingam-Dhingra (#4), and Hayley Parsons (#2) on court first. Ritchie, Coombe, Mahalingam-Dhingra, and Parsons all fell in three well-fought games, with Parsons having particularly close 11-8 scores in the second and third games. Grant had an excellent match, taking her opponent to five games, although she eventually fell in a hard-fought fifth game.

Next on court were Caroline Hogan (#9), Charlotte Walsh (#7), Esther Baek (#5), co-captain Nicole Feshbach (#3), and Nicole Friedman (#1). Although all five players also fell in three games, they followed the example of their teammates, fought hard for every point, and proved that the Ephs deserved to be in the finals of the tournament.

Co-captain Feshbach commented, "We had a tough opponent today, as Trinity is one of the best teams in the country. Getting to play Trinity in the finals is a privilege, while the real tests were yesterday against Middlebury and Bates. We are excited to carry this momentum to our last home match against Dartmouth on Tuesday. We haven't beaten Dartmouth in years, so this match would be a great opportunity to finish off a truly special season in style."

The loss against Trinity secures a second place finish for Williams in the NESCAC tournament. The Ephs will face Dartmouth on Tuesday at 5pm in their last home match of the season.
