Women's Squash Advances to Finals of NESCAC Champtionship

AMHERST, MA – The Ephs defeated Bowdoin and Middlebury today to move on to the finals of the NESCAC championship tournament. The team defeated the Bowdoin Bears 9-0 and Middlebury 8-1, improving on their previous 6-3 result with the latter team.

The Ephs first faced Bowdoin at 9am, playing the five court system. All members of the team handily won their matches, remaining dominant from start to finish. Hayley Parsons (#2), despite dropping a game, came back and beat her opponent in the next three games to win 3-1 and make the score a 9-0 sweep for the Ephs.

The team next faced Middlebury in the semifinals of the tournament at 3:30pm. The Ephs had previously played them just a few weeks earlier and won 6-3, so were looking to improve on their result this time around. They did just that, defeating the team 8-1. Memorable matches included Nicole Friedman (#1), who defeated her opponent in four dominant games compared to her previous 3-2 result. Ananya Mahalingam-Dhingra (#4) also defeated an opponent 3-1 who she lost to last time. Caroline Hogan (#10) and Eliza Bower (#11) had very tight exhibition matches, with Hogan winning 13-11 in the fifth and Bower finishing in a similar fashion. Captain Alyssa Ritchie also played an impressive match, toughing it out until the fifth game but eventually falling to a strong opponent, making the final score 8-1 to the Ephs.

The team is now in the finals of the tournament and will face top-ranked team Trinity at 3pm tomorrow.
