Ephs Defeat Franklin and Marshall Diplomats 9-0

LANCASTER, PA - On Friday evening, the Ephs made the long trek Lancaster to compete against Franklin and Marshall.

The Ephs used a 5 court system for this match. Senior captain Esther Baek (#2), sophomore Abby LeBlanc (#4), junior Anna Nicholson (#6), freshman Alex Pear (#8), and junior Eliza Bower (#10) led the charge for the Ephs in the first wave of play. Baek, LeBlanc, Pear, and Bower each used their squash prowess and speedy quick feet to beat their opponenets in three games. Nicholson battled with her Diplomat opponent in a tight four games, and was able to continue the Ephs' triumphant charge with a score of 11-8 in the fourth. Feeding off of this momentum, sophomore Julia Ward (#1), sophomore Sarah Willwerth (#3), junior Melissa Swann (#5), freshman Kathryn Wright (#7), and sophomore Adrienne Conza (#9) were on next for the Ephs. Ward, Swann, Wright, and Conza all delivered strong three game victories. Willwerth also continued this victorious charge and defeated her Diplomat opponent 11-7 in the fourth game. 

Captain Esther Baek had this to say after the match: "Today was a very satisfying win for us. I saw the team working on shot variation quite a bit agaisnt their Diplomat opponents, so hopefully we can bring this more complex shot arsenal to our future matches this weekend. We have two very tough matches ahead against UVA and GW, and this was a positive start to our long weekend."

The Ephs play University of Virginia in Annapolis, MD tomorrow at 3pm and George Washington University in Washington, DC on Sunday at 12pm.
