Ephs Fall to Brown 5-4

New Haven, CT – Today, the Williams Women's squash team put up a tough fight against the Brown Bears. Unfortunately, the Lady Ephs fell 5-4 against the Bears this afternoon. 

The Lady Ephs had a slow start being down 1-4 after the first two waves of matches. Up first was Julia Ward (#1), Abby LeBlanc (#6), and Co-Captain Anna Nicholson (#7). Ward and Nicholson were both outplayed by their opponents and fell in three games despite showcasing good squash. On the middle court, LeBlanc had a five-game thriller against her Brown opponent before falling 5-11 in the fifth. 

On court second was freshmen duo Haley Jefferson (#2) and Quan Ng (#5) and sophomore Kathryn Wright (#8). Wright played strong squash, keeping the ball high and deep, but ultimately fell in straight games in the end. Meanwhile, Jefferson and Ng both played incredible squash to beat their Brown opponents 3-1 and putting two points on the board for the Purple Cows. 

Last up was Sarah Willwerth (#3), Co-Captain Melissa Swann (#4), and Mira Kamat (#9). Swann tried her hardest and was even up in the third game, but her Brown opponent was not backing down and won the match 3-0 to win the 5^th point for Brown. Meanwhile on bottom court, Kamat was down 2-0 before battling her way into a five-game match and pulling out the win 11-7 in the fifth. Willwerth put up the fourth point for the Purple Cows as she also played a five-game thriller and emerged victorious 11-5 in the fifth. 

Coach Levy said: "What an amazing performance by our team today. We were so close to winning the match. I am so proud of all the players who played their hearts out. We are excited to take on the Bates Bobcats tomorrow!"

Tomorrow, the Purple Cows will be playing Bates at 12:30PM!
