THE EPHS IMPRESS AGAINST THE RAMS

WILLIAMSTOWN, MA- Williams College (5-7-1) scored 3 goals to defeat Farmingdale State College (9-7) 3-0 this afternoon on Cole Field.

Early aggression from Williams led to a penalty opportunity at 8:58. Senior Victoria Laino let out a strong kick into back right straight past the Rams goalkeeper. With an early goal on the board, the Ephs looked to score again. In the 12th minute junior Emma Lynch had a good shot on goal. Later, Lynch kicked a perfect cross to junior Liz Girvan who was unable to connect. In the 37th a cross from sophomore Tess Belnap almost led to a goal.

The Williams defense did a great job keeping Farmingdale out of the box for most of the game. The Rams' first good shot came in the 50th minute and sailed just wide off the foot of Celina Schenk. She booted the ball to the left side of the goal hoping it could connect. In the 54th, junior Maria Chapman prevented an serious shot opportunity for the Rams.

The Ephs extended their lead late with a goal in the 81st minute.  Liz Girvan scored after great ball movement from senior Rain Condie and freshman Kelly Beal. Williams scored again in the 85th minute when a stellar pass from senior Aspen Pierson led to a goal from freshman Tori Huang.

Eph head coach Sarah Raymond was enthusiastic after today's game: "It just feels really good to see the hard work and commitment to continuing to improve be rewarded with goals and wins. I'm so proud of the heart and passion our players demonstrate every game for each other and for the program. Our results this year have been tough but by no means have they broken our spirit and we are excited for our next game and a chance to grow again as a team."

Williams aims to make a playoff push with two NESCAC games next weekend against Bates College and Middlebury College.
