LEWISTON, ME- Williams College (6-7-1, NESCAC 4-4-0) scored 1 goal to triumph over Bates College (3-9-2, NESCAC 1-8-0)
The deciding goal came in the 52nd minute from freshman
Tori Huang. Huang took the game into her hands and set her sights on scoring from deep. With great touch, Huang let out a shot from way outside of the box. She booted the ball right over the Bates goalie and into the back of the net. The goal was an especially bright spot in a mostly defensively oriented game.
In the first half, Bates was more aggressive than Williams. Senior Lauren Berube had a promising shot attempt in the 8th minute but was unable to find the back of the net. The Bobcat's best shot opportunity came from sophomore Charlotte Jones in the 16th minute. Her shot on goal was bobbled by goalie
Chelsea Taylor and almost slipped in until Taylor was able to force the ball away from the goal.
Bates continued to attack in the second but proved unsuccessful. In the 86th a final stop from the Eph defense secured a victory. Eph Coach
Sarah Raymond had this to say about the team: "While we started a little passive today, proud of the energy and composure we brought to the second half to secure a win against a hard working NESCAC opponent in Bates. We are excited to play our best soccer against our biggest rival Middlebury on Tuesday."
As aforementioned, Williams hopes to keep its playoff chances alive Tuesday at 3:00 against Middlebury College.
