Elias Lindgren '23 and Aidan Ryan '22 were leading the race from the gun, along with Alex Phillip of John Carroll and Henry Pick of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps. Eventually, it was Lindgren and Phillip in a battle for first, with Ryan and Pick close behind. Lindgren took second place by only three seconds. In addition to being the national runner-up, his time of 23:30 was a personal best. Aidan Ryan, finishing in 23:42, was 4th overall, his highest finish in a collegiate national meet. Grahm Tuohy-Gaydos was the first member of the class of 2025 to cross the line, and his time of 24:07 earned him 19th place and All-America honors. William Spollen '23 moved up by 102 places through the first 3k, and continued to progress throughout the race to his time of 24:43. Charles Namiot '25 passed an average of 29 runners per kilometer of the race, finishing only three seconds behind Spollen in 24:46. Nate Lentz, in his best race of the season (24:58), was the team's sixth finisher. John Lucey '24 (27:01) dug deep to finish the race after being sick for over a week, demonstrating grit in the face of adversity.

"It was a challenging meet due to the strength of the field; there are a lot of good runners in Division III this year. To have three all-Americans, especially two within the top five in the country, we've very rarely done that. We were delighted; to have a team on the podium is exceptional," said Head Coach Pete Farwell.

Elias Lindgren shared in Farwell's positive sentiments. "Even if I didn't win the individual championship, I still am really proud of the race I ran. I know I gave it my all. After some ups and downs through the season, I was extremely happy to see it all come together when it counted. I'm also so proud of all of the guys, they all ran their hearts out and we really did a great job of focusing on enjoying the big meet environment and having a great time out there while also running as hard as we could. We're already getting excited for next cross country season."

Overall, the men's cross country team ended their 2021 season on a high note with an impressive and fulfilling national meet performance.
