CLINTON, N.Y. — Wiliams College senior
Gabi Cirigliano had three extra-base hits and drove in five runs Sunday as the Ephs held off Hamilton, 13-10, in New York State. The victory gave Williams (3-0) a clean sweep of the weekend series. The Ephs will be at Middlebury Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. Hamilton opened the season at 0-3.
The top three batters in the Williams line-up —
Tayler Wise, Kelly McGuigan and Cirigliano — batted 7 for 13 with 10 RBI and four runs scored in Sunday's victory.
Kirstin Mapes threw seven innings of relief to earn the victory, imporiving to 3-0.
The Ephs broke the game open with six runs in the top of the third inning and five more in the fourth. Cirigliano's leadoff homer in the third tied the score at threeand McGuigan's two-run double to right field gave Williams an 8-3 lead. The Ephs scored all five runs in the fourth with two outs. Wise's bases-clearing double to deep center field staked Williams to an 11-3 cushion. McGuigan added an RBI-single that scored
Rachel Neugart and Cirigliano capped the outburst with an RNI-double for a 13-10 lead.
Natalie Beebe led the Hamilton offense by going 4-for-4 with two runs batted in.
Shelby McVey doubled twice and singled,
Madison Rainone drove in three runs and
Samantha Smith doubled and singled.
Kaitlyn Fudge started in the circle and allowed five earned runs on five hits and two walks.
