Steffen Siebert Named Interim Men’s Soccer Coach

WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS. – Williams Athletic Director Lisa Melendy has announced that  Steffen Siebert will serve as the Interim Head Men's Soccer Coach for the upcoming season.
 
"Coach Siebert stood out among a strong field of candidates for his deep knowledge of, and passion for, the game of soccer and his coaching experience at a variety of levels," stated Melendy. "I am confident he will be able to guide this team as it begins a new chapter in the history of Williams Soccer."
 
"Many thanks to the members of the student search committee, Justin Adams, Ben Diffley, Will Felitto, Eli Petrik, and Rick Usami as their insights were invaluable in helping guide the committee to a decision."

"Its reputation for high quality academics and athletics is known across the country and it is a great honor to be able to lead the men's soccer program at Williams College.
 
"My wife Tatum, daughter Adeline, and I are very excited to become a part of the Williams College family and looking forward to building on the legacy that coach Mike Russo and coach Erin Sullivan and all of the amazing student-athletes have established. I am excited to get to Williamstown to meet other members of the faculty, Athletic Department, the team in person and get to work!"
 
Steffen Siebert coaching Siebert arrives at Williams having served as the head coach of Atlantic City FC for the 2021 National Professional Soccer League (NPSL) season. Atlantic City FC completed its first undefeated regular season under Siebert earning him Coach of the Year honors and a final national ranking in the top four.
         
He has also served as an Assistant Coach and Director of Professional Player Development with Real Salt Lake in Major League Soccer from December 2019 to January 2021.
 
At Real Salt Lake Siebert planned and prepared training sessions, worked one on one with players which included video sessions, devised set pieces, and provided analysis of upcoming opponents.
 
From December 2016 to December 2017 Siebert coached Hartford FC in the NPSL and guided Hartford FC to a championship game appearance.
 
"Steffen is an amazing coach," stated Justen Glad a member of the U.S. National Team and a player for Real Salt Lake. "He has great tactical knowledge and explains things thoroughly and well. He pays attention to the details of the game, which is what is needed at the highest levels of the game of soccer. He connects with players on a personal level and as a coach and is always there for questions of any sort."
 
Siebert is also a U.S. Soccer and UEFA 'A' License coach. He is the youngest 'A' License

On the collegiate level Siebert spent six seasons as the head men's soccer coach at Springfield College from 2012 – 2017, where he compiled a record of 80-28-14 (.713). Siebert's 2016 team won the NEWMAC Tournament and compiled a record of 18-2-1, while his 2017 team won the NEWMAC regular season title and fashioned a record of 15-1-3.
 
In his last three seasons at Springfield Siebert won a NEWMAC or regional title each year, produced the 2016 NEWMAC Player of the Year, the first ever All-American, and the first COSIDA Academic All-American.
 
Siebert earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science, Psychology and Business and Marketing from Missouri Valley College in 2009. In 2010 he earned a Master of Science Degree in Psychology from Springfield College specializing in Athletic Counseling. In 2017 he earned a Doctoral degree in Sports Leadership from Concordia University.
