Williamstown, Mass. -- Despite strong Eph offensive efforts, Trinity (4-1-1, 1-0-1) held on to the lead they established midway through the first half, defeating Williams (2-3-1, 0-3-1) 1-0.
Â
Trinity's Tess Flanders found the back of the net after a scramble in the box in the 23rd minute.
Â
The goal came at an inopportune time as the Ephs were off to a great start, cutting up the Trinity defense with threaded balls in behind and dominating possession on both sides of the field. The Ephs finished the first half with eight shots to Trinity's six but were unable to convert.
Â
Williams came out firing in the second half, hungry for a goal. The Ephs put the Bantams' defense under intense pressure, notching eight shots and four corners in the second half. Shots came from a number of Eph players. Midfielder
Emma Lynch ('23) had three as did forward
Kelly Beal ('25). Defender
Liz Girvan ('23) and forward
Parker Harnett ('25) had two apiece.

Reflecting on the loss, head coach
Sarah Raymond said, "Today was a tough one. We created enough good chances to win the game but unfortunately, that wasn't that outcome. We are competing so hard and moving the ball so well at times that it feels really hard not to see the benefit on the scoreboard. I'm so proud of our resilience and we will come out fighting again tomorrow."
Â
Williams will face Massachusetts Institute of Technology home tomorrow at 12:30 PM.
