WILLIAMSTOWN, MASS. - Senior Emily Batchelor recorded a hat trick as the no. 11 Williams College Ephs (7-3, 3-3 NESCAC) took down the Connecticut College Camels (2-8, 0-6 NESCAC) 7-0 on WIlliamson Field.
The first goal came at the 6:29 mark from a beautiful counterattack. With outstanding pace, first year Kiki Higgins found senior Faith Stineman who put the ball in the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.
Sophomore Meaghan Boehm made a terrific play down the right hand side of the field and crossed it in the area for senior Emily Batchelor to finish the play and put the Ephs up 2-0. 22:23 into the game, Higgins put a cross inside the shooting area, where Batchelor hit it first time and gave the Ephs a 3-0 lead going into halftime.
The Ephs came out super strong in the second half. 1:20 into the third quarter, junior Molly Hellman went sprinting through the middle and placed a beautiful pass to Stineman who recorded her third goal of the season and put the Ephs up 4-0. Molly Hellman herself found the back of the net with less than 20 seconds to go in the third quarter and gave the Ephs a 5-0 lead going into the last quarter.
Batchelor completed her hat trick 48:53 into the game, tallying her 15th goal of the season in just 10 games, and she leads NESCAC in scoring. Great pressure from Batchelor saw her take it up the field and deliver Williams' 6th goal of the day. Meaghan Boehm who played fantastic game ended the scoring for the Ephs 10:43 into the fourth quarter, making it a final score of 7-0.
Senior goalkeeper Carson Stephenson made 4 crucial saves while junior goalkeeper Gates Tenerowicz made 3 stellar saves working together to get the clean sheet. Williams out shot Conn. College 28-10. 17 of the Eph shots were on target while the Camels had 7 on target.
"Hard fought win. Conn. really made us work hard in the midfield," reflected head Coach Alix Barrale after the game. "We converted in the circle which was great to see. Our defensive corner unit played really well considering we gave up 7 corners!"
The Ephs will look to carry this momentum on the road when they head to Middletown, Conn. to face the Wesleyan Cardinals on Saturday, October 15th, at 12:00 PM.
