GLASSBORO, N.J. – The Williams College field hockey team's historic season ended this afternoon in their first appearance in an NCAA semifinal contest when the Johns Hopkins University Blue Jays prevailed 1-0.
The first quarter featured Johns Hopkins on attack early, but the Ephs gradually got their footing and their offense organized and they pressured the Blue Jays in the last half of the opening quarter. Williams earned 2 penalty corners in the first 15 minutes to just one for Johns Hopkins. The quarter, however, ended 0-0.
With just under five minutes remaining in the first half Johns Hopkins' Siena Urbanski redirected a deflected shot into the left side of the goal with her stick up around her shoulders. At first the ruling on the field was a no goal, but Hopkins asked for a video review. The video review confirmed that Urbanski only touched the ball with her stick and no other part of her body and the Blue Jays took a 1-0 lead.

In the fourth quarter with 10:05 remaining the Ephs
Jacqui Sandor looked to have a brief opportunity to tie the score, but Johns Hopkins goalie Alexis Loder came off the goal line and blocked her shot.
The Ephs out shot the Blue Jays 8 to 6, but only 3 Eph shots were on goal
Williams finished the season with a record of 16-5, while Johns Hopkins recorded their 16
th straight win and improved to 19-3 on the year.
"Always heartbreaking to say good bye to seniors especially after our historic season,"said Eph head coach
Alix Barrale. "This team was incredible ON and OFF the field. They were warriors in the true sense. They never let anything or anyone hold them back. We had some tough calls today but the team never allowed the officiating impact their determination. We struggled to control play in the first half, but pulled it together to dominate the second half. I am beyond proud this squad and loved every minute of our time together. They created an amazing atmosphere day in and day out... they are inspirational. Our future is bright!"
