Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Williams Sweep the Weekend, Defeating Conn 4-1

New London, CT – For the second consecutive game, the Williams Colleges Ephs (3-3, 2-2) would find a winner on the man advantage, as Jarin Sutton's strike at the 12:48 mark of the first proved to be enough as they defeated the Connecticut College Camels (1-4, 0-4).

After a slow start yesterday versus Tufts, Williams came out looking to flip the script in their second away game of the weekend. After several chances on both sides, the Ephs would find themselves on a brief, delayed penalty, 6 on 4 situation. After some quick passing around the zone, Connor Kucharski found first year Jared Lambright who fired a puck from the blueline, finding daylight past the Conn netminder. The penalty remained after the goal and the Ephs were able to double their lead when Jarin Sutton scored just a minute and a half later.

Defensively, the Ephs held strong behind another strong performance from senior goaltender, Evan Ruschil. His 30 saves against Conn added to his stellar weekend total of 62.

Conn College would not go down without a fight, scoring in the first shift of the second period off the stick of Anthony Quatieri. The Ephs would manage to regain some control as the period progressed, slowly taking the game back to the Camels. Their constant pressure culminated in a hardworking goal as Owen Stadheim found linemate Connor Tobin open in the slot; the junior would find the far side and the Ephs would not look back. Just six minutes later, Jonah Gold would continue his three-game goal streak by finding a pocket of space in the slot and tallying the Ephs fourth of the game.

The third period was much of the same for Williams as they facilitated play for the remaining twenty minutes. After the game, Coach Kangas had this to say about the performance, "Yesterday we did not come prepared to play, today felt much better…the boys were having fun out there. It feels good for the team to have a well-rounded performance, from blocking shots defensively to working the puck around offensively, it was a solid way to end the weekend."

The Ephs will look to keep rolling as they take on Amherst on the road Friday at 7PM.
