Â
As expected with these two competitive teams, the first period was fast and furious with both teams scoring 2 goals each. The Bantams were first to score at 11:12 when Gerard Maretta, assist by Jax Murray and Kyle Tomaso, made a wrist shot to the top shelve of Ruschil's goal. A minute later the Ephs responded with their own goal. At 12:55,
Tyler Cooligan, single handedly, tallied the first goal of the game for Ephs from the front steps off a quick slap shot.
Â
Not willing to give up their early lead, Bantam Richard Boysen, assisted by Devan Tongue and Nicholas Siffringer, took a shot from the left side of the goal. Boysen's slap shot deflected off a Eph defenseman and into the net to put the Bantams up one goal. With less than one minute left in the period, the Ephs were able to clinch the period equalizer at 19:03.
Nicholas Rashkovsky picked up a deflected shot from
Ethan Prout and slap it between the pipes. After 20 minutes of play, the Ephs were head-to-head with the Bantams 2-2.
Â
Unlike the first, the second period had only one goal. At 1:17, three penalties against the Ephs put the Bantams up 2 skaters. They were quick to take advantage of it and convert their third and game winning goal. Bantam Lucas Michaud, assist by Kyle Tomaso, made his goal at 2:51. While the Ephs skated hard searching for their equalizer, they were unable to keep the puck in the Bantam's defensive zone. After the second period, the score was 3-2 and the Bantams out shot the Ephs 13-8.
Â
In the third, both teams were offensively similar with 7 shots on goal for the Bantams and 6 for the Ephs. However, neither team was able to convert, and the Bantams would leave a close 3-2 win against the Ephs.
