Winter Haven, Fl -- The Ephs were back in action on Saturday against Benedictine University and played a very complete game. On the mound for the purple and gold was sophomore,
Eric Gage. Gage pitched seven strong innings, striking out twelve Benedictine batters, allowing only two runs. The stellar 100+ pitch performance was complemented by an equally impressive Williams offense.
Dave Driscoll got the ball rolling—or rather flying—for the Ephs offense in the second inning with a booming opposite field home run, giving Williams a 1-0 lead. This was Driscoll's first homer of the year, a milestone that was only eclipsed by his second home run of the day in the sixth inning.
Kurt Oelschlager also homered against reliever Jackson Bahn in the ninth.
The potent Eph offense was also propelled by two
Jakob Cohn doubles. In total, the team from the Purple Valley collected nine hits and registered six stolen bases in the 7-5 victory.
