Williams Score Eight Unanswered and Down Connecticut College 12-7

Williamstown, MA – After an early deficit, the Williams College Ephs (4-2, 3-1) would score eight unanswered goals to defeat Connecticut College (2-3, 1-2) by a score of 12-7. The eventual game-winner would come late in the rally off the stick of sophomore Calvin Caputo early in the third frame.

Conn College would extend their early lead in the opening of the second quarter after Nick Farnham scored just a minute and a half into the frame off a feed from Gus Mazzocca. The game raged on scoreless for the following eight minutes, the Ephs defense settling the game and allowing for the offense to get a hold of the game.

Coach George McCormack praised his defensive unit saying, "they deserve a lot of credit…they're supporting each other, creating turnovers, and making it easier to score on offense".  Goalie Matt Freitas would end the day with a 13 save performance in a solid defensive effort.

The momentum would finally swing Williams' way after an outburst of offensive firepower late in the second period. Calvin Caputo would tally three in a row, the first two assisted by Jake Haase and the third off a feed from Spencer Goodbar. The offense wasn't done in the half as they would tack on two goals in the final minute, one from Bjorn Davidson and another from Jake Haase, to give the Ephs a 6-3 lead heading into the locker room.

The roll continued into the third as Jesse Shapiro and Calvin Caputo would add on two more off passes from Pearse Glavin before he would bury his own to finish off the eight goal rally. The teams would trade off goals to end the quarter as first-year Harrison Cross would find the back of the net to make the score 10-5 Williams.

In the final quarter, Jake Haase would fire home his second and Pearse Glavin would clean up for his hat-trick taking the score to 12-5 Williams early in the final frame. Conn would add three goals late in the game, but it proved to be too little too late as the Ephs finished the game on top 12-7.

The Ephs will look to continue rolling as they take on Christopher Newport University away at 7PM on Wednesday.
